Points for attention to
the application of ion exchange resin:
(1) Storage
and transportation
¢ÙTo
be stored in sealed vessels, avoid freezing or violent sun-shine.
¢ÚStorage
temperature: 4-40¡æ.
¢ÛStorage
expiry is 2 years. If storage is over 2 years, the product should be
reinspected before use. If the resin is found water loss, you are not
allowed to add water directly to the resin. You should first add just
right amount of thick salt water to it, making the resin become wet
again.
(2) Pre-treatment:
pre-treatment of the resin before its application should be carried out
according to the following steps.
¢ÙPre-treatment
of positive resin:
Use saturated
thick salt water of the quantity 2 times that of the resin to be
treated. Put the resin in the thick salt water and soak for 18-20 hours.
Then drain off all thick salt water and rinsed with clear water to an
extent that no yellow color is found to be with the drained out water.
Then soak in 2%-4% NAOH solution of the quantity same as above for 2-4
hours (or rinse with small flowing volume). Drain off all alkali
solution and rinse the resin to an extent that the drained out water
near neutral.
¢ÚNegative
resin pre-treatment:
First pre-treatment step is same as that for positive resin. Then soak
in 5% HCl for 4-8 hours. Drain off all acid solution and rinse with
water to neutral. Then soak in 2%-4%NAOH solution for 4-8 hours. Drain
off all alkali solution and wash with clear water to neutral.
¢ÛAvoid
resin contamination:
There are several circumstance that can cause resin contaminated. One
cause is the organic substance and colloid silicon the water; another is
heavy contamination. Beside during a long period & application, high
molecule fracture will happen with the resin, causing exchange ability
drop. So you must take different measures according to different
contamination.
